Louis Hertum

Herthum, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, started his career in the entertainment field as an actor in 1978. In 1982, after extensive work in theatre, television commercials and print work, he moved to Los Angeles.

Over the next decade Louis continued his prolific stage work starring in over thirty productions in the Los Angeles area. He won especially high critical acclaim in two original plays, "Snatch a Falling Star" Publishing Company.

In 1991, after years of Guest starring and Co-starring roles in numerous television shows such as "Columbo," "Vanishing Son," "Hardball," "Grand Slam," and "The Tomorrow Man" and TV commercials like "Pepsi," "Visa," "Prostep," "Aleeve," "Phillips 66," "Science Diet" and many others, Louis landed the role of Deputy Andy Broom in the long running hit CBS television series, "Murder, She Wrote," starring Angela Landsbury.

At the end of his fifth season, which was the shows twelfth and last, Louis turned his attentions to the arena of film production. In late 1995, he conceived an idea for a film, contracted a writer and collaborated on a story set in his home state of Louisiana. Once the script was finished, Louis returned to Baton Rouge were he raised the funding privately and in less than nine months from conception, the feature film "Favorite Son," which Louis not only produced but starred in, was in the can. While he eventually found foreign distribution for the film, no domestic deals were forth coming.

Therefore, in 1999 Louis founded "Eclipsonline, Inc.," an online distribution company for... the best movies you’ve never seen. In short, for the independent films that have no distribution outlet but deserve to be seen. In April, 2000 ....www.eclipsonline.com.... was launched, giving the independent film maker a place to sell his/her film and to reach an audience.

In the summer of 1999, while Louis was putting together Eclipsonline, he found time to produce and star in the feature film, "The Ghost," an action drama set in Hong Kong and Los Angeles. The film also stars Michael Madsen (whom Louis met while doing two episodes of Michael’s ABC show "Vengeance Unlimited" in 1998), Brad Dourif, Richard Hatch, Michael Chan, Brad Hunt and James Hong. "The Ghost" was distributed world wide by Regent Entertainment in mid 2000.

Mr. Herthum has several projects currently in development, including two series for his web site as well as an online film school. Once these projects are well under way, he will again concentrate on his acting career. Producing and web developing take up so much of his time that he is left with little to pursue his true love, acting. He plans however, to get back to it very soon.
